My friend’s been working really hard to get back in shape after a surgery. She’s lost 20 pounds in the last 6 months and looks great, but unfortunately, based on her 63 inch height and weight of 169, she is still slightly over the limit and subject to a tape test.
She measured this morning at 35% body fat and needs to be under 33%. Based on our calculations, she needs to lose just 2-5 inches to pass this test, and she has until Monday morning at 0700. (It’s Tues nite now)
We are willing to do almost everything except amputate or lipo. Please share your tips on diet, exercise, and water consumption.
She’s sooo close. It’d be horrible if she didn’t pass and detrimental to her career. Thank you very much for your advice and help.
I hear what you’re saying about lazy people, but this gir’s worked hard.
As for a waiver, it’s unfortunately not gonna happen. She just got off the profile for that & there’s no going back.
She’s been working hard doing the diet & exercise thing for months, but it just hasn’t quite been enough.
Actually was on FEP till our command canceled it & is now individually PTing w/ her former FEP buddies. Perhaps less than before, but this is only a few inches now, it shouldn’t be that hard to pass. She is *not* a super fat@ss, believe it or not, just young, short, & a little big-boned.
Her waist measurement is smaller than when she left Basic, but her hips are larger & there’s not much she can do about that. (or is there?)
She’s at “A” School (it’s a yr-long program + the time she was on med hold) We sit in class all day for 8 hrs, plus 3-5 hours of study a night. And, it’s stressful, which never helps much w/ losing weight.
Thanks for your tips. This is a quick fix not a lifestyle!
If she ONLY has to do the tape test, I would tell her to start running as much as possible and burning as many calories as she can. Then, 2 days before her test tell her to stop hydrating… Then she’ll lose her water weight as well. She MIGHT sneak by, but that’s a pretty tall order, honestly.
I can’t think of any healthy way to do this.
Laxatives is all that’s coming to mind. Don’t long term or overdue it.
I’ll get thumbs down for saying that, but hey.
K9 Dude: I’ve heard of something like that too….I want to say it’s hemorrhoid cream? Does that sound weird?
a crisp 100 dollar bill may work…..
um. Dont eat at all for all those days. let her body feed off of her subcutaneous fat. That worked for me haha
If she’s just had surgery, she should go to the surgeon and request a medical waiver.
*later*
Unless they have completely rewritten ManMed, she can request two six month waivers back to back, providing she has a good prognosis.
tell her to ask around i know there is a trick where you wrap your stomach in saran wrap over night with some kind of cream on the inside it will dehydrate you and constrict the skin just long enough to get you through the waist tape.
if i think of the cream i will update.
Yeah, that’s not possible unless she plans on being dehydrated. She can go to a spa and get a full body wrap. She would need to loose water weight. Maybe even run a couple of miles a day.
But isn’t it enough of how some people start cramming right before their PRT? Is she doing mando? Regardless your friend sounds like she was heavy before surgery. So obviously this is not the first PRT she has failed. She can get a waiver because of her surgery. But now they are getting really strict and are kicking people out because of the downsizing. She needs to eat healthy and exercise. If she doesn’t well, she will eventually kicked out. It’s the military and in order to stay people need to follow their standards.
I have been in this situation twice at MEPS, im a guy though but anyway I will tell you what I did. Drink plum juice it will stop weight from sticking. It is high in fiber and keeps your insides moving. Hit the track daily, and small portions while eating. Also the water diet works. I lost ten pounds in a week before I went to MEPS. drink 2 gallons of water a day in that time, it will flush the salt out that retains water weight. Now if push comes to shove, she can suck her gut in a little. She just has to know how to inhale and exhale while holding her gut in, which is easy. I had to do this last week because I didnt keep my weight in check.
put on a garbage bag 5 sweatshirts and some underarmors and run like hell, for about 7 hours you should start losing alot of water weight, ans then starve yourself on top of that, you should be good, i wrestle and have lost 8 pounds from one practice to another
