My dog is overweight! How long will it take to get back in shape?

After a visit to the vet this morning we discovered my four year old lab is overweight. He should be around 85# and he shamelessly tipped the scale at 101#. The doctor said she would be happy to see him at 90#. The weight gain was quick, happened in about 4 months (since our last visit) but after blood work the vet ruled out any medical conditions…just a dog that enjoys his food.
So my question is, limiting his food intake to the recommended suggestion for a 90# dog and the normal amount of recommended exercise…how long should it take for him to lose 11 pounds?

In less than a year I gained about 40 lbs, and now I’m having a lot of trouble taking it off. (LONG)?

FIRST, If you take the time to read all this, thank you so much.

I’m a female and I’m turning 20 in June. I’m currently the heaviest I’ve EVER been at 260 lbs and I’m only 5’4 tall… I’ve always been a big girl, even as a little kid, and when I was in high school (age 15-18) I wasn’t a very active person, but I’d at least been at a consistent weight of 220-225 lbs.

Now I’m 19 and for the past year I’ve been gaining weight like crazy. When I first noticed myself changing I had been stressed out and depressed because I owed my school money, was jobless, took a semester off to look for a job with no luck, so I spent a lot of my time indoors getting little to no physical activity. When I finally landed a job, I laid off just after two months because the business was extremely slow and the owners couldn’t afford to pay some of their employees.

Since the new year I’ve had a bit more luck and I’m working again. At work, I’m constantly moving around and it wore me out the first week I started but I’ve gotten used to it; I’ve been here for almost 3 months now. In addition to that, I started exercising almost every day (I watch 2-3 exercising shows on demand a few hours before I go to work), I cut out fast food and added a few more fruits into my diet (I’ve always eaten a lot vegetables and I already drink +/- 6 bottles of water a day) One bad thing I know I’m doing I sleeping really late. I work evenings, so I get home at 11, but I don’t go to sleep until 3-4, sometimes 5 in the morning, and I wake up around noon.

With my positive changes I actually feel happier and more energetic, but I haven’t seen much change in my appearance, yet. What do you think? I’m not expecting instant gratification, but I do feel like I’m doing some good things now so it’d be nice to have some insurance that I’m starting off on the right foot.

What do you think? What else should I incorporate into my routine? What should I avoid? Are there any foods or supplements I could benefit from or should look into?

Most importantly, what’s a realistic goal I should set for myself? Though it would be nice (and I’m sure even better for me) to be a lot smaller than I originally was, right now I want to focus on losing the 40lbs I’ve packed on, maybe an extra 10- 20 lbs or so would be good. I’d like to get it off before July, is that reasonable?

I’m very serious about taking this all off, so if you took the time to read all this and have any advice, tips, or other vital information I would deeply appreciate it.

For how long and how often do I have to run outside if I want to lose 15 pounds by April or May?

Okay, so I gained 10 pounds since summer of last year since we moved and didnt have any forms of exercise, and live far from YMCA. I’m 16, male, 5’7″ and 160 pounds right now. I’m planning to start running around my subdivision starting tomorrow every morning before school. How often and for how long do I have to run to achieve that goal (lose 15 pounds) by april or may? Im already working on my diet, I’m not going to eat less, just eat less junk and replace it with fruits cause I know that I’m still growing. So if I start tomorrow, I have approx 2 months. Also tips about running will be much appreciated since I’m new to it. Thanks

How long does it take for cats to lose weight?

About 2 months ago I started regulating my cats’ food per my vet’s instructions. They were never very overweight, maybe 2-3 pounds, but I wanted to get the problem in check before it became a bigger issue. Since the start of their permanent “diet” two of them have visibly slimmed down (not to their ideal weight yet though) and one is pretty much the same.

So a few questions:
1) How long does it normally take for a cat to lose a couple pounds?
2) When I give them their morning & evenings meals they almost always leave some food in the bowl. I usually just leave it and let them nibble on it until it’s gone because that’s the amount they’re supposed to need. Should I be picking it up after 30 minutes or something?
3) I try to get them to exercise and they’re quite playful, but if I drag a string or use a laser pointer in a way that would require them to actually run around they kind of just stare like “Are you kidding me?” So how do I get them to move their furry butts and burn some calories?

Any other tips you could offer would be helpful.

How long will it take before I see results from exercising?

I signed up at golds gym on Thursday and plan to go 5-6 days a week. I do 30 minutes of cardio on the epiliptical machine or I speed walk on an incline on the treadmill each time I go. I also do about 100 crunches, and lift weights with both my arms and legs about 50lbs right now, also 5 lbs of free weights now and then for about 20 minutes. I try to stay between 1200-1500 calories a day except one day a week when I have a cheat day. I also started taking an all natural vitamin/mineral supplement this morning. Any tips or tricks to help with the weight loss and also how long till I start seeing results? And about how long till I’m where I want to be? I’m 22 & weigh 124 and am 5’6 and have the stomache pudge and love handle thing going on, but hopefully not for to much longer.I just want to look toned and lean not super skinny. Thanks in advance!

This is a little long??????? But funny. Enjoy?

AAADD- KNOW THE SYMPTOMS…..PLEASE READ!

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. –
Age Activity Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.

As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table,
put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back
on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think,
since I’m going to be near the mailbox
when I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table,
and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
so I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Coke I’d been drinking.

I’m going to look for my checks,
but first I need to push the Coke aside
so that I don’t accidentally knock it over.

The Coke is getting warm,
and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke,
a vase of flowers on the counter
catches my eye–they need water.

I put the Coke on the counter and
discover my reading glasses that
I’ve been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk,
but first I’m going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter,
fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I’ll be looking for the remote,
but I won’t remember that it’s on the kitchen table,
so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
but first I’ll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers,
but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table,
get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to
remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

the car isn’t washed

the bills aren’t paid

there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter

the flowers don’t have enough water,

there is still only 1 check in my check book,

I can’t find the remote,

I can’t find my glasses,

and I don’t remember what I did with the car keys.

Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I’m really baffled because I know I was busy all day,
and I’m really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem,
and I’ll try to get some help for it,
but first I’ll check my e-mail….

Do me a favor.
Forward this message to everyone you know,
because I don’t remember who I’ve sent it to.

Don’t laugh — if this isn’t you yet, your day is coming!!
I believe this section is for JOKES…if you want to answer questions, go somewhere else. Have a great day!
